Presentation of exhibition “The history of Yusupov princes’ family”

On May, 20th, 2009 employees of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan have been invited to the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan to the presentation of exhibition «The history of Yusupov princes’ family. Kazan-Petersburg-Paris» with participation of princess Ksenia Yusupova-Sfiri – representative of the well-known aristocratic family of ancient eastern origins. At the opening ceremony princess Ksenia Yusupova-Sfiri, the assistant of Prime minister of the Republic of Tatarstan - the minister of culture Z.R.Valeeva, and the director of the Yusupov’ palace Nina Kukuruzova had taken part.

The director of the Yusupov’ palace on the Moyka in Petersburg named the exhibition opening in Kazan an epoch-making event. At the exhibition were featured more than 150 unique exhibits - portraits, smart and daily photos of members of the family, the books, personal things, pieces of furniture and arts and crafts from palace furniture on the Moyka. Aside from this, unique family documents of Yusupov princes - reading and writing patents, decrees, correspondence with the Russian monarchs, lists of a 19th century from original letters of Noguy Khan Yusuf (the father of Tsarina Syuyumbike) to Russian tsar Ivan IV are presented. The particular interest is represented by the demonstration of the educational film «the Yusupov’s palace» about the prince’s genealogy and the architectural biography of the Petersburg residence of Yusupovs, magnificent interiors of a palace and its modern life.
