"I will bring you to the museum…"

From May, 1 to 31, 2016 Department of Arts of National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan  (ul. Teatralnaya, d. 5) under the "Calendar of significant and memorable dates of Art" offers the visitors a selection of documents on the International Museum Day, which is celebrated on May, 18.

The exhibition consists of two sections. The first section presents the publications about the museums of the world: Prado, the National Gallery of London, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and others. Colorful albums and reference books tell about the exhibits of these museums, the history of their formation. The most unusual imaginary museum is created by German art historian Susanna Partsch in her book "Home Museum". Leafing through the pages, the readers - visitors to the museum turn out to be in a cold cave, and then in  a majestic temple. The museum has sixteen reading rooms, all of which gives an idea of a certain period of civilization in general and the art of this period in particular. This section also presents the multimedia edition of "The Rape of Europa". Films tell about the dramatic fate of many artistic masterpieces stolen by the Nazis from the countries of Europe in the 30-40-ies of the 20th century. The author of the films Vitaly Aksenov used a a lot of unique archival photos and footage. The second section presents the book editions giving a unique opportunity to see the collections of Russian museums and museums of the Republic of Tatarstan. The cycle of multimedia publications of 25 popular-science films reveals to the audience the treasures of of the State Russian Museum and the State Hermitage Museum - one of the largest collections of art in St. Petersburg. Viewers have the opportunity to see the magnificent rooms with luxurious interiors of the famous museums, palaces, at the exhibitions of  which presented all kinds of art. Films introduces the readers with the creativity of individual artists as well as with the cultural epochs.

The exhibition is addressed to university students in the humanities, teachers, museum employees, art critics, collectors and to anyone interested in art.
