On September, 10th, 2009 the Second international book fair has been opened at the museum complex of Azerbaijan. The Ministry of culture and tourism of the Azerbaijan Republic was the organizer of an exhibition-fair. The exhibition purpose was the representation and advancement of novelties of publishing production and publishing programs for readers, bookshops and libraries.
By the invitation of the Permanent Representatives of the Republic of Tatarstan the director of the National library of the Republic of Tatarstan Nail Akramovich Kambeev has taken part in the work of the international book fair at the Azerbaijan Republic. Publishing production of the Tatar book publishing house, publishing houses "Idel-press", "Magarif" has been exposed at the special stand. Also books of the publishing house «Milli kitap», founded by the National library of the Republic of Tatarstan have been presented. Total number of exhibited documents was 120 titles, including audio, video documents. Themes of books were very wide – historical editions, popular scientific, scientifically-informative, editions about outstanding figures of the Tatar culture, fiction and others.
The great interest of visitors of an exhibition was caused by the books devoted to the Tatarstan, editions of regional studies of the Tatar book publishing house headed by D.S.Shakirov. After the termination of work of an exhibition solemn transfer of the presented documents to the National library of Azerbaijan of M.Ahundov has taken place. The exposition of publishing production of the Republic of Tatarstan has been awarded by the Diploma for an active participation at work of the international book fair.
Within the limits of book fair meetings have passed; negotiations of cooperation are carried out between the director of the National library of the Republic of Tatarstan Nail Kambeev and the director of the National library of Azerbaijan Kerim Tahirov.
Publishing and polygraphic houses have taken part at the exhibition in Baku from 23 countries of the world: publishing houses of Russia, the USA, Turkey, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Belarus, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia, Estonia, Lithuania and other countries. Within the limits of an exhibition-fair at the conference halls of the museum centre the presentations of books, meetings with the Azerbaijan and foreign publishers, ceremonies of distribution of autographs, and also negotiation about cooperation between heads of foreign and local publishing houses, authors and publishing houses of other countries have taken place. At the work of an exhibition from September, 10 till September, 12th, 2009 expositions have visited 30 000 persons.
As the minister of culture and tourism of Azerbaijan A.Garaev has noted, the Baku international book exhibition-fair is very accessible for all comers to take part in it. Further it is planned to hold an exhibition in two years.
The Department of Literature in Foreign Languages of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan (36 Karl Marx Str.) is happy to present new book arrivals to its visitors. Our new stock will be interesting to those who learn Russian as a foreign language or teach it to international students.
The seven-volume work entitled “The History of the Tatars since Ancient Times” written in English language and published by the Institute of History of Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan has supplemented the Department of Literature in Foreign Languages of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan.
From March 14 to 16, 2017 the officials of the Department of Literature in Foreign Languages of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan organized meetings with the lecturers and students of Kazan Federal University.
