The National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan became one of the attractions of Kazan that were visited by participants of the session of the Presidium of the All-Russian public movement "Association of Finno-Ugric Peoples of the Russian Federation", held in the capital of the Republic from 25th till 27th of February.
For the visitors from the Republics of Karelia, Crimea, Mari-El, Mordovia, Kirov Region, Nenets Autonomous District and the Perm Territory was conducted a tour through the building of the National Library - the object of cultural heritage of federal significance of the early XX century, during which they learned about the history of the building, visited the library collections, the exhibition hall, the existing exhibition of the works in national languages, that are presented at the National Library.
At the end of the tour, the guests donated to the Library the rare books devoted to the history and the culture of the Finno-Ugric peoples, among which are the colorful photo album "Mordovian national costume" (by T. Prokina, photos by B. Tishulin, illustrations by Y. Smirnov), which presents the picturesque museum specimens of the Mokshan and the Erzyan national costumes, Mordovian national epos "Mastorava", a collection of historical and ethnographic essays "The Maris", the album of illustrations of the Honoured Art worker and winner of the State Prize of the Mari El Republic Ivan Yamberdov, book of the authors from the Perm region and others.
The meeting ended with a cup of tea with the national dishes of the Tatar cuisine. At parting the guests from the regions of Russia and the library staff took the pictures in memory of the meeting.
