The role of periodicals in the patriotic education of youth

On April 28, 2016 staff of the Department of periodicals of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan within the framework of the voluntary action "Spring Week of Kindness - Relay of good deeds "Kindhearted Tatarstan" conducted a review "The role of periodicals in the patriotic education of youth" for 6th grade students of Gymnasium No.8 of the Soviet district of Kazan.

Particular significance the event gained at the eve of the 71st anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Department staff introduced to the students authentic magazines and newspapers, that were published during the war and are carefully stored in the library's collections. Periodicals of war years made a great impression on the students. With bated breath, with tears on their eyes, children listened to verses in two official languages of Tatarstan about the war, its heroes, the Great Victory. Particular attention in the review was paid to patriotism, which is expressed in love for the family, friends, city, and ultimately - to the homeland. The highlight of the event was a presentation about the patriotic education. All participants of the meeting received St. George ribbons.

Students of the gymnasium and library staff enjoyed the event and agreed on new meetings.
