Relay race of good deeds. Meeting at the rehabilitation center "Solnechny" ("Sunny")

On May 4, 2016 staff of the Department of periodicals of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan within the event  "Spring Week of Kindness - Relay race of good deeds "Kindhearted Tatarstan" held an event for the students of the 3rd grade of the public autonomous institution of social services "Rehabilitation center for the children and adolescents with disabilities "Solnechny" ("Sunny") of the Ministry of Labour, employment and social protection of the Republic of Tatarstan" of the Volga region city of Kazan.

The first part of the meeting was devoted to the upcoming 71st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Department staff introduced the students with authentic magazines and newspapers which were published during the war and are carefully stored at the library stocks. A unique opportunity to touch the periodicals of the war years granted to the children made a great impression on them. With unconcealed interest was perceived review in which librarians paid particular attention to patriotism that is expressed in love for the family, friends, city, and ultimately – to the Homeland. Also, the library staff read the touching poems and short stories about the war for the children, and answered their numerous questions.

The second part of the meeting, "Be healthy and temper yourself" was dedicated to the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. Students received useful information about the magazines and newspapers on sports subjects that are available at the stocks of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan. Library staff encouraged the students to engage in physical exercise, do gymnastics, spend more time outdoors during the summer vacation, have a good rest, get stronger and with new forces to go to the fourth grade.

Kids were glad for the sweets and St. George's ribbons that librarians gave to them, and which had complemented the friendly atmosphere of the meeting. The participants parted, promising to continue the meeting at the school and at the main library of Tatarstan.
