The Department of Exhibitions and Cultural Affairs of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan hosts an exhibition titled “Honoring the Past for Future Generations”. The exhibition is dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions, which is annually commemorated on October 30.
The exposition reveals the most dramatic events of the soviet period. The soviet government unleashed terror against outstanding commanders, prominent members of the Communist Workers' Party and Law enforcement agencies.
Archive documents elicited from NKVD-NKGB USSR and MVD-MGB USSR provided the basis for editions that disclose the tragedy of political repressions, classified documents and psychological torture inflicted on convicts. The visitors may get information on the deportation of Crimean Tatars, Greeks, Bulgarians, Armenians, Kurds, Karachays, Ingush people and many other nations from Crimea and the Caucasus. One may find books about Tatar prominent public and political figures who occurred victims of political repressions in Tatarstan as well. The fiction the main topic of which are events, happening within the period of 1930-1940-s, is also presented there.
This exhibition appeals to a wide range of readers and it will last until the end of October.
