Opening the world of periodicals

On October 4, 2016 the officials of the Periodicals Department of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan organized a lecture titled “Diverse world of periodicals” for the 5th grade students of the gymnasium № 8 of the Sovetsky City District.

The librarians managed to tell about the main republican library, it’s stocks and diversity of provided services in an absorbing and obtainable manner. They familiarized students with a range of available periodicals, which contained colourful magazine and newspaper issues. Such issues as “V mire jivotnih” (“World of Animals”), ‘Vokrug sveta” (“Around the World”), “Legkaya Atletika” (“Track and field”), “Fizkultura i sport” (“Sport and Physical Education”), “Levsha” (“Left hander”), “Drug” (“Pet”), “Sabantuy”, “Yalkin” attracted interest of all students. Providing examples from real magazine and newspaper articles the librarians brought up such crucial topics as love of native land, respect for elderly people, proper attitude towards animals, healthy lifestyle, doing sport, etc. It is notable that students discussed the topics lively, readily asking questions and receiving answers at once. Both participants and organizers were satisfied with the meeting.
