On November 3, 2016 a joint event titled “With passionate and compassionate love for Russia” of the Periodicals Department of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan and Kazan Innovative University named after V.G. Timiryasov (IEML) took place. The event was dedicated to National Unity Day and was held in a conference hall of the university (Moskovskaya street, 42).
The first and second-year students performed patriotic poems and pieces of music, all applied to the topics of love for native land and people as well as friendship and compassion for the nearest and dearest. “I do love my native land! I do!” – this motto taken from the poem by Sergey Yesenin is close to all the participants. They recited the excerpts from Alexander Blok and Joseph Brodsky, whose poems are filled with home-sickness. Among the guests there were First Vice-rector for research Igor Bikeev, Vice-rector for continuous education Daniya Akhmetova and Dean of Law faculty Andrey Nikitin. An honored guest of the evening - lieutenant colonel of Federal Security Service of Russia Linar Safin confessed that the performance cut him to heart. He also admitted that modern youth realizes the necessity of patriotism.
Poems were derived from books and periodicals that are kept in the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan. This cooperation is the result of mutual work of the library and its partners in the framework of state program realization “Patriotic Upbringing of Russian Citizens”. The concert was held in festive atmosphere. The officials of the library appreciated the sincerity of the evening and presented memorable gifts to the university.
