The Republic of Tatarstan is the award winner of "The most reading region" contest

Results of the second All-Russian contest "The most reading region" among the subjects of the Russian Federation were summarized. The Republic of Tatarstan was announced one of the five award winners. In its presentation the republic revealed projects, dedicated to the Year of Literature and the Year of Cinema in Russia as well as the Year of Parks and Public Gardens in the Republic of Tatarstan.

In 2016 84 regions have confirmed their participation in the contest and fought for the title of "Literary flagship of Russia". The jury, which included representatives of the book industry, journalists, writers, literary critics did a great job rating the unique creative innovative literary projects implemented in 2016. The President of the Russian Book Union, Sergei Stepashin, became the head of the jury.

Astrakhan and Sverdlovsk oblasts, Krasnoyarsk krai and Saint Petersburg were also awarded prizes. First place and the status of "Literary flagship of Russia" was awarded to Voronezh oblast. The motto of the winner’s presentation – “Voronezh oblast – the area of reading youth”. The presentation unfolded projects aimed at the popularization of reading among the youth and children. The first youth poetry festival “Mandelstamfest” and other events, dedicated to the poets’ 125th birth anniversary as well as program, aimed at preservation and perpetuation of Samuil Marshak’s cultural heritage, were introduced.

On November 30 in the framework of the International Book Fair of Intellectual Literature Non\Fiction the awarding ceremony for the winners of "The most reading region" is going to be held.
