Patriotic education

The Periodicals Department of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan continues to promote patriotic education in Kazan schools. On October 10, 2016 a lecture on “The role of periodicals in patriotic education» was given in gymnasium №8.

The department officials spoke on the diversity of periodicals, stored in the library stocks. Providing examples from magazine and newspaper articles the librarians brought up such crucial topics as patriotism, love of native land, respect for nation, language, family and city. The boys and girls were also asked to respond to a survey that included questions about patriotism and their attitudes towards it. Such survey was conducted for the first time without being applied before. This teaching technique achieves the basic aim of patriotic education – the formation of spiritual and moral individual with a high level of social activity and participatory citizenship. The interest shown by children during the lesson as well as the results of survey attest that such lectures are extremely important in the sense of youth upbringing.
