State & Official Symbols of the Republic of Tatarstan
A state’s existence is impossible without the presence of state symbols to personify its state system, social features, the historical development of its society, and the customs and traditions which have developed within it. Today, problems of preserving a heritage are very real. The history of Russia and Tatarstan reflects the development of the national consciousness of its citizens. Studying the history of the state symbols of Russia and Tatarstan, one can see that the popularisation of these symbols is of great importance in the formation of feelings of patriotism and civilisation, in the education of a generation of people towards loving the native land, feeling spiritual connection and consanguinity with ancestors, and in defending the honour, freedom and independence of the country. The state symbols of the Republic of Tatarstan brightly reflect its historical, cultural, and spiritual heritage, influenced by various civilisations. The electronic directory, “State Symbols of the Republic Tatarstan,” brings to the Russian and world audience, users of the internet from all corners of the world, including readers of NLRT, bibliographic materials, audio and photographic materials, and electronic copies of documents representing the historical and cultural development of the symbols of the Republic of Tatarstan. Included are sources from the republic’s beginning till present-day, including the history of the state emblem, flag and hymn, distinctions of ruling persons, the arms of various areas of Tatarstan and other symbols of power. Materials are presented in Russian and Tatar languages. In addition, there is an English version of the directory. The electronic directory, “State Symbols of the RT,” is being developed with constant updates and additions.
