The National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan – a participant in research and practice conference in Cheboksary

The National Library of the Chuvash Republic hosted an Interregional research and practice conference titled Cultural heritage of Povolzhye that was held on September 23, 2016 in Cheboksary. The officials of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan participated in the conference as well. Lyubov’ Grishukova, the official of the Department of PR and Book Promotion of the National Library of RT, delivered a report called The National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan – preservation of Povolzhye nations’ heritage during the plenary session.

The conference was organized as part of Strategy of State National Politics of Russian Federation, and “Strengthening the unity of the Russian Nation and the ethnocultural development of the peoples of Russia (2014–2020)” Federal Program. The conference aimed at strengthening the unity of the Russian nation promoting greater harmony in inter-ethnic relation and the development of the ethnic culture. Minister of Culture, Nationality Affairs, and Archival Affairs of the Chuvash Republic Konstantin Yakovlev, the Chairman of National Assembly of the Chuvash Republic Lev Kurkov as well as CEO of the National Library of the Chuvash Republic Svetlana Starikova welcomed all the participants.

The conference program featured a plenary session divided into three workshops “Modern culture and traditions of Povolzhye nations”; “Ethnocultural features in modern education”; “Cultural facilities are the centres for preservation of Povolzhye nations’ heritage”.

The papers presented in the conference will be published in the proceedings.
